kiptyn aston trent -------------------------------------------
----- everything came easy for the guy, there was nothing he couldn’t do or talk his way in or out of a situation. Kiptyn Trent was raised by his mother, Emily. Only seeing his father a few times if that, he didn’t really remember anything about him. The things he knew came straight from Emily’s mouth. Emily wasn’t the greatest women in the world that was for sure, but she did her best. Most of his he spent with his grandmother, Keeley. She was the only women that he ever had a soft spot for. Kiptyn would do anything for her; sadly, she had passed away when he had turned nineteen. It was quick and painless or so he hoped. By then he starting off on his own and working his way up to the top. That was just what he had been doing, trying to put Emily off to the side. Kiptyn really wanted nothing to do with his mother. She wasn’t god awful, but she was damn well close to it. Age of twenty he was traveling around, it was almost like he was a whole different person. He could be who ever he felt like being. It was just that simple or so he thought it should be. Wasn’t until he ran into Samantha Rose he had been at a local bar in Tampa, Flordia. Kiptyn had a contract stationed there for a few months; however he had been to his bar many nights, never seeing her there before. Honestly, she was a mess, one thing lead to another and they actually became friends. Even a little bit on the benefits side, which was before he got to know her. Turns out she was actually from Grace, the small town that his other half of family life. Never been to the place before, all he knew what that his father was dead, and he had a few brother’s and sisters. Kiptyn had no intention of going to the place; there was nothing there for him. Anyways, Sam had left Gace, along with a pissed of boyfriend, and new born child. The last one he didn’t expect. Throw his eyes; she seemed very young to already have a child. The two were the same again, and Kiptyn was just starting to live his life, there was no way in hell he would be ready to take on another one. Hell he couldn’t even take care of himself half the time. That wasn’t the point; point was that she felt them behind not wanting to be like her own mother- that she was turning into. So they had another thing in common, a crazy mom, although her’s seemed a hell of a lot worse. Made him even kind of be thankful for his own. Which wasn’t saying much.
----- kiptyn tried his best to help her anyway that he could, but there was only so much he could do. He was only one person, couldn’t make it all better over night. But once she was, she ventured back to Grace. While Kiptyn stayed in Tampa finishing up the job he had started. Next he had gone out west to California working there for a little while, until he found himself in the one place he dared not go too, Grace. Was it like this bad karma thing? Taking the job, he just wanted to get it done and over with as fast as he could. Must have not been fast enough because it was almost a year now and he was still in this town. Grace was pretty much what he expected, the small town, people talking about everyone, it was just typical. He had reconnected with Samantha, and those two talked. Got together a few times, it was nice. Also managed to have a wonderful conversation with his half brother, Kade Trent. Didn’t really remember much of what they talked about, but oh well. Kiptyn met some knew people also, one of them being Kade’s girlfriend, well ex girlfriend now. But at the time- girlfriend. He had gone to the bakery early in the morning for breakfast, two had a small conversation, but then the guy just kept coming back. Learning later on down the road that she was pregnant. It was no secret that Kiptyn and Kade didn’t like each other, but damn two girls? Two kids? Kiptyn knew when not to mess with things, so he didn’t. He had never really been the type for relationships, but he could at least keep one. Wasn’t a cheater in anyway shape or form. Learned not to make the same mistake his father had. There had also been another event that somewhat involved Kiptyn it was that his brother had passed away, Hunter Trent had been taken by cancer. There was a debate in his mind whether to go or not. In the end he decided not to. Figured it wouldn’t have made a difference if he showed his face or not. It wasn’t like he knew the guy or anything. Just happened to be a mistake that they were related to each other.
----- from that point till the mine explosion, Kiptyn kept a low profile; he’d talk to a few people here and there. But he was getting sucked into the town, and not focusing on what he was really her for, and that was work. Kiptyn was always into his work, it was like his first priority. Just like school was, he was a bright kid and it showed. He was making good money, he wasn’t over the top rich but he did well. Hearing about the mine explosion on the news in the evening that involved two of his half brothers, Kade the one he didn’t care for and the other Jared which was now in a coma, or out of it. Wasn’t sure, but Kiptyn never seen or spoken to the guy. Made him wonder, seemed like everything was happening to the Trent brothers maybe he should get out while he still could. After that Kiptyn started talking to Jocelyn a lot more, seemed that her and Kade were having problems or whatever. Then they were slowly getting better. She had suspension of him cheating on her, turns out she was right. He was. Guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, or however that saying goes. That had been the part of the reason she had been in the hospital. Kiptyn had been but there many times to visit her, most of the time he brought her food. Whatever she wanted he got, Jocelyn’s daughter Ava was also doing every well for being born a month early. It had been just about a month since Jocelyn had been home from the hospital, with Ava. He had been over at her place as well a few times. Maybe not as much as he would like, but didn’t want to seem clingy? Anyways, she knew his number if she ever needed help, he was sure her sister, Molly, and best friend Mac would be helping her out a lot. So Kiptyn did what he did best and engrossed himself into his work. It was your typical work day, he started at eight in the morning and took a lunch break around noon. At that time he had received a phone call from Jocelyn stating that Ava was sick, she needed help, along with things for her daughter. Would’ve been helpful if Kiptyn could’ve actually understood what the hell she saying in the phone call that she needed for Ava. He went to Talon’s picking up anything he could find that had something to do with a baby, and headed to her place.
----- pulling up to the drive way he turned off the engine and got out. Walking up to the door, he noticed it was slightly open, so he walked in seeing Jocelyn holding Ava in her arms in the kitchen. Closing the door behind him, he made his way over to the kitchen counter placing the two plastic bags full of things he had bough. “Do you people not close your doors around here?” Asked, any old person could’ve just walked right in. “I bought, uh… yeah.” He nodded to the bags, as she gave him that blank stare. “What?!” He said with a small smile creeping through. Jocelyn gently handed Ava over to Kiptyn. He had held her once before, she was actually asleep, and he looked down that the infant in his arms as though he could just crush her with any slight moment that he made. Jocelyn rummaged though everything in disbelieve of what he had gotten, which was kind of funny to see the look on her face. Honesty, Kiptyn had no idea what he brought, if it said baby, or had anything baby on it. He got it. The other day, Kiptyn had been talking to Samantha on aim, she had said something that was actually very ture. That he did things for the people that he cared about. It wasn’t until now, that he realized it. Not that he would tell her that she was right. Kiptyn cared about Sam, and now Jocelyn. However, with Jocelyn it was something much more than what he had for Sam. It was different, hell who knows maybe he was actually falling for her. That’d be just…great.

_____ jocelyn hart Waking up to the sound of a crying baby was never a pleasant sound; especially when the crying baby was your own. Jocelyn groaned, her face stuffed into her pillow as she heard her daughter’s cry from down the hall. Today was sure to be different. It was rare that Jocelyn had to take care of Ava on her own, considering that her sister or Mac usually offered to help. Hell, even Colby had stopped in to help here and there. She never expected anyone to, and was more than grateful to the people that gave their time. Today however, she was on her own. Of course, this wasn’t the first time, and she had gotten pretty used to her daily routine and doing things that she never expected she’d be able to. So, crawling out of bed, she headed toward Ava’s room, and leaned over her crying daughter’s crib. Jocelyn hushed as she lifted her up into her arms, ears feeling relief when Ava’s crying ceased. Saying her usual good-morning, Jocelyn noticed a few different things about Ava. For one, her face was unusually flushed and she felt warmer than usual. And as Jocelyn walked with her downstairs, Ava proceeded to throw up on Jocelyn’s shirt. That pretty much said enough. With an easy laugh and a sigh, Joce kept her cool, and put Ava down in her rocker. The next couple of hours consisted of Joce calling her doctor, asking about Ava, and being reminded of the fact that she was more vulnerable to illness than most infants. It appeared Ava merely had a cold, and should wear off within a day or so. All the little girl could do was cry, and no matter what Jocelyn did, she kept on with it. She gave her a bath, tried to put her down for a nap, rocked her, walked around with her… it wasn’t until Ava threw up for the second time that she stopped crying. At this point, the little girl seemed to settle a little, finally just easing in Jocelyn’s arms as she sat down on her sofa. Immediately, her mind turned resentfully toward Ava’s father. Jocelyn wondered where he was, and how much he was enjoying not having to deal with this. It almost made her angry and kind of made her want to hit him in the face. Actually, it did make her want to hit him in the face. Hard.
It didn’t seem like a month had already passed since her accident. Jocelyn still had barely gotten used to the idea that she had a baby living with her in her house. But she grew to love that little girl more and more as each day went by. Working, physical therapy, and taking care of Ava were hard to balance and Jocelyn still wasn’t used to being responsible for someone else. Her back injury sometime made it hard to walk around as much as she did, but there was really no getting around the fact that she had to. It hurt, but it was something Joce just learned to deal with. A long pink scar had been left on Jocelyn’s forehead from her accident, as the stitches had only been removed about two weeks ago. Joce really didn’t like thinking about any of it, mostly because she blamed herself for both of the things that had happened that night. For one, Joce had known about Kade and Shaye, and yet for whatever reason went on thinking that it wasn’t true. Second, she drove recklessly and stupidly, not paying attention to the road or much of anything else- and if she hadn’t been in her accident, maybe Ava wouldn’t be sick all the time, and wouldn’t have been born prematurely. Jocelyn would never really tell anyone how she was really doing, though. To everyone else, she was fine. Normal, or at least acting normal. The truth? She was hurt. Badly. And she felt stupid for feeling that way. It was a cliché saying, but she really had gotten her heart broken, and wasn’t happy about admitting it either. She would’ve loved to say that it didn’t bother her and that she was just fine. But really, she wasn’t. She was far from it. Still. Jocelyn felt left alone with a baby to take care of, while Kade went off and did whatever the hell he wanted to. He stopped by rarely, and only to see Ava for an hour or so, then leave. Kade had told her that the reason he’d kept Shaye and everything from her was because he didn’t want to lose her. Right now, Jocelyn thought that was a load of bullshit. He didn’t care. And at the moment, she tried her hardest not to give a damn about him either. Jocelyn knew she’d made a mistake in being with Kade. And now, she was stuck with the consequences.
Kiptyn Trent had pretty much come out of nowhere when he had shown up in Grace. She didn’t even know who he was when she first met him, until he proceeded to tell her. Jocelyn had always heard of and known about the other Trent boy, but knew nothing other than that he had nothing to do with the family. Kade surely didn’t like her talking to him, but it surely didn’t stop her. They’d gotten to know each other a lot better as time went on, and he didn’t run away when he found out she was pregnant. Which was rather surprising. To be honest, Jocelyn only thought that Kiptyn had been hanging around her and coming to see her at work solely to piss Kade off- which after awhile, it wouldn’t have done anyway. But she really had gotten to know him, and considered him a really good friend. After she’d been in her accident, he was constantly there. Insisting on bringing her food and whatever else she needed- which was nothing. He gave her little updates on Ava and just gave her a completely different perspective on how she viewed Kiptyn. He wasn’t a bad guy at all, and hated that the Trent’s seemed to view him as one. He’d offered her help whenever she needed it. And today, she would need him. Jocelyn put Ava back in her rocker, and pulled out her phone, calling Kiptyn to get a few things from Talon’s. The list wasn’t extensive. She’d only said baby aspirin, a baby thermometer, and some formula. However, she knew she’d said her words a little fast in frustration, and hoped that Kiptyn understood what is was that she said. Sometimes, he acted like he did, when really he had absolutely no idea. In the meantime, Jocelyn just tried to keep Ava from crying, walking around the house with her, and dabbing her face with a cold cloth to try and bring her fever down. Another hour or so went by, as Ava drifted off to sleep in her arms. With a small sigh of relief, she walked back into the kitchen, setting the washrag in the sink. That was when she saw Kiptyn walking in with two full shopping bags. What the- Jocelyn just at him with complete confusion on her face. She had asked for three things. He apparently hadn’t been listening.
“Do you people not close your doors around here?” Jocelyn had to slightly chuckle at that, because honestly, no one did. She had a screen door- what more did he expect? “No, we don’t. This isn’t exactly the kind of house burglars look for, and there really aren’t any around here. City boy.” She had to grin at that, enjoying giving little digs in when Kiptyn didn’t understand something about how Grace worked. “I bought, uh… yeah.” Her mind then returned to the fact that he’d most likely completely screwed up in getting what she asked him too. It was half funny, half aggravating, but went along with it in staring at him blankly. “What?!” He was smiling about it, obviously knowing that he had no idea what he had even gotten. With a sigh, Jocelyn walked over to Kiptyn and carefully placed her sleeping baby in his arms, as she then walked over to the bags that he had set down on the counter. “Kiptyn, what the hell?” She asked with a small laugh, unable to deny the fact that he’d failed miserably. “I asked for three things. You got none of them.” Joce would’ve been mad if she didn’t find it really funny. Rummaging through the bag some more, she sighed, turning to him with a small smirk. “For future reference. Ava is not a boy, she does not wear 12 month diapers, she can’t eat solid food…” She had to stop herself before she said the next sentence. It was inevitable that she was going to laugh while saying it. “And you bought fertility pills. Those aren’t for babies, dumbass.” Still chuckling slightly, Jocelyn went to take Ava from Kiptyn, seeing that she was still sleeping. “Thanks for trying, though.” She offered a smile, and shook her head, backing up toward the stairwell. “I’m going to put her down for a little bit. Be right back.” Kiptyn was a good guy and there was no denying that fact. Molly had asked the other day about the possibility of him and her getting together, and Jocelyn shut it down without giving it a second thought. Molly was skeptical, but Jocelyn sure as hell wasn’t. It didn’t work out the last time, and she doubted it ould work out a second try around. Granted, Kiptyn and Kade were two completely different people, but there was no way she was going to even try doing something that stupid again. At least that what she thought.
As far as Jocelyn was concerned they were just friends. Of course, Jocelyn liked Kiptyn and really appreciated all he did. She didn’t want to jeopardize that by trying to be in a relationship when she wasn’t ready. Hell, she knew she’d never be ready. Jocelyn’s thinking had returned right back to here it had started. There is no such thing as a happily ever after, no matter who you are. Setting yourself up to be hurt was stupid and wasn’t going to be made a fool of again. That she was sure of. Jocelyn returned downstairs, relieved that Ava had decided to finally doze off. She saw Kiptyn sitting down on the couch, and dragged herself over to sit next to him. She was tired beyond belief, and had never been this tired in her entire life. It was obvious she hadn’t gotten ready today, her hair pulled back into a clip, pieces sticking out here and there around her face, wearing baggy sweatpants and a cami- she knew she probably looked like a bum, but didn’t necessarily care. There was no attempt to impress anyone. She hadn’t even planned on seeing anyone today, until she’d called Kiptyn. And he’d failed at his small task anyways. With a smile and a sigh, she leaned her head back, yawning at the air. “I’m sorry you went to the store for nothing.” Joce laughed again at the thought, and pulled her legs up to her chest. “Thank you, though. I didn’t feel like dealing with people staring at me today. Normally I don’t care. But I’d end up hitting someone or something with the mood I’m in. And I wish my back would stop hurting already.” Joce looked over at him with another smile, and another yawn, stretching her arms out in front of her. “But how are you? I haven’t talked to you in… awhile.” There really was no time to contact anyone anymore. Ava took up whatever time she had, and Jocelyn wasn’t used to having something holding her back from doing whatever she wanted… that fact, she hated.
