-----Tyler really, really, REALLY hated this stupid driveway. Was it his driveway? No. His driveway was a nice, graveled little thing that did not have ruts and holes that threatened to swallow his entire vehicle. His driveway, unlike this one, did not seem to lead to the middle of freaking nowhere. Hell, Ty wasn’t even sure if this was even considered a driveway, but he didn’t know what else to call it. It was just the long ass, rugged trail that led the way up through the Trent property to the cabin that Kade Trent lived in. Ty had traveled the said path many times, but he used to have a truck that could handle this kind of off roading. The car that he now had thanks to wrecking and totaling his truck wasn’t handling it so well. He had to watch everything that he did, and baby it rather than just floor it like he used to. Damn it. It seemed like it took him forever and a damn day to get up to the top of the ridge where the cabin sat, but Ty did eventually get there. Kade’s truck was sitting outside, and Tyler could hear Cooper howling from somewhere nearby.
-----He got out of the car after parking it, and walked up to the porch where he was greeted by Kade’s giant wolf hybrid dog…thing. Cooper was a big dog that looked more like a wolf, and Tyler could remember being a little bit afraid of him in the past. Now, pretty well everyone knew that Cooper was a big baby, and spoiled. Not that he probably couldn’t be vicious if he wanted to be, but he just wasn’t. Ty patted Cooper on the head as he walked by, and then knocked on the door a few times. No answer, and no sound from inside. Ty hadn’t called ahead, and had just assumed that his friend would be home. There were a lot of whispers in town about Kade, and Tyler was genuinely worried about him. This was something like a check up, he guessed one could say. He wanted to see if Kade was alright, but it appeared that he wasn’t home. Probably out for a run. Tyler sighed, but instead of leaving, he parked himself in a camp chair that Kade had on his porch. Tyler pulled out his cell phone, and seeing that he had just enough service to make a call, quickly dialed Molly’s number.
-----Leaning back into the chair, Tyler out the phone to his hear and listened as it rang. Cooper came over, plopping himself down at Ty’s feet. Tyler decided that it was a good evening for porch sitting, and the view from here was pretty great. Two rings. A third, and then she answered. ”Hey, baby. How are you?” he asked, barely giving her a chance to say hello at the other end. Ty smiled as he talked, trying to imagine his girlfriend, and how she was looking as she talked into her phone. It was certainly a good image.

----- things were getting pretty crazy around Grace lately. Molly was watching Ava for the night, giving Mackenzie and Jared a break from the little girl. Jocelyn had left town, going off to Texas to deal with postpartum depression. Plus, it couldn’t hurt to get away for a little while. Four months was more than a little while. Molly hated that she left, but it was for something good. She knew that Jocelyn didn’t want to leave Ava. Both Colby and Molly had said it was the best thing she could do. It was, just really sucked not having her around like normal. It was evening, the sun was started to go down, Molly had Ava cradled in her arms as she flipped through the channels on TV. Nothings ever on. Last she had seen of Ty was in the morning other than that she had been taking care of Ava all day. Which was not easiest thing in the world to do.
----- earlier in the day, Molly had gone over to Mac’s pick up the baby girl. Everything had been going good, until it was time for her to go to sleep. The little girl would not go down for nap for anything, and then she started getting fussy. Next came time for her to be fed, and that didn’t happen because she wore herself out by all of the cry and fussing Molly didn’t want to put the girl down, of fear that she would wake up and not fall back asleep. She had no idea how Jocelyn could deal with this. Hell even Mackenzie. Molly had never had Ava all to herself there was always someone there with her to help. As she found the end of the notebook on tv, seeing the movie on so many times before you got used to knowing what was going to happen. Most of all not crying.
----- molly’s phone vibrated on the small end table next to her, picking it up she looked over making sure that Ava was still asleep and she was. Looking at the phone, seeing that Tyler was classing she quick answered it before even getting a simple ‘hey’ out he was already talking, “Hey, baby. How are you?” Molly smiled shaking her head, “I’m good, watching Ava for the day, er night now. Just to give Mac and Jared a break. Uh where are you?” Said into the phone, not that it really mattered, Ty was gone a lot anyways.

-----He was always a fast talker, always jumping on things and keeping it all moving. Ty hadn't given Molly any time to talk at all, which was something that he did with pretty well everyone that he called. Sometimes that didn’t work out for him, because he sometimes dialed the wrong number and ended up making an ass of himself, but Tyler Orsino was definitely not the kind of person that cared about something like that. He shrugged it off, and went about calling the person he had been trying to call in the first place. Molly would be used to this, though. After all, she knew him very well. He could just see that smile that would cross her lips, maybe accompanied with a gentle shake of her head at his slightly eccentric ways. “I’m good, watching Ava for the day, er night now. Just to give Mac and Jared a break.” Tyler knew all about the situation with Jocelyn having to leave her nearly newborn daughter for a mental break. He knew that Jocelyn had asked Mackenzie and Jared to take care of Ava while she away, and thought that it was a good thing that they were getting a night for themselves. Having a responsibility like a baby put on you was a big thing to take on; Ty kind of knew from experience.
-----He continued listening. “Uh where are you?” That seemed like a fair question. Ty was gone so much of the time anymore, and with him it was never really safe to assume that you knew exactly where he was. ”I’m sitting on Kade’s porch with Cooper. I came up to see how he was, but he’s not here so I’m going to wait for a little while and see if he turns up.” Which, Ty had all the confidence in the world that Kade would turn up. Eventually. There was a trail that ran through the woods and up along the Trent property line that Kade had marked out years ago when he ran twice a day, almost everyday, keeping in shape for football. He hadn’t run it in a long time, but recently, he had taken it up again. Which could be a sign that things were getting better, or getting worse. Ty couldn’t decide which one just yet. ”So how’s little Ava? You doing okay with her?” Ty was very much attached to the little baby, even though he had only seen her a couple of times. He was a kid person, and her being a child of two of good friends put Ava up there on his list of favorite kids. Right along with Hadley, Anna’s baby, and Evan. Ty asked how Molly was handling Ava because he knew that Molly had never cared for the baby on her own before. Molly could do it though; he had faith in his girl.
-----Tyler again sat listening to Molly’s account of how things had gone with Ava, and nodded along as though he were actually there having the conversation instead of talking on the phone with her. Overall, it sounded like things had been going well. A few little fits, but nothing drastic. ”That’s good. And it was nice of you to let Jared and Mac have an evening off, too. I really don’t know what your sister was thinking dumping her kid off on them right now.” God and everyone else knew that Jared and Mackenzie were still finding their way to stable ground after all the shit they had been through. It didn’t seem fair, and to Ty, it didn’t make sense as to why Jocelyn just had to leave. He had never really voiced that before, and only hinted at it now. But, as usual, he wasn’t watching what he said, wasn’t thinking about it at all, and that was what got him into trouble more often than not.

molly elisabeth hart. -------------------------------------------
----- holding the phone with one hand, and keeping Ava in the other, was a very difficult task. Molly was not in anyway shape or form a multi tasker. You don’t even want to see her drive and talk on the phone at the same time. She had asked him where he was and she was getting her answer, “I’m sitting on Kade’s porch with Cooper. I came up to see how he was, but he’s not here so I’m going to wait for a little while and see if he turns up.” Molly knew that Ty and Kade were good friends so that didn’t bother her at all. Sure she was still a little pissed about the whole thing that happened between Jocelyn and what Kade had done to her. How that whole thing just ended. It was something she hadn’t forgotten about. Considering she was holding his daughter in her other arm. “Oh okay.” A simple reply. . “So how’s little Ava? You doing okay with her?” Molly listened to the questions he was asking, “She’s good, at least for right now. That would be when she wakes up. I feel bad always wanting her to sleep but that’s when she’s most quiet. Really I have no idea how Jocelyn or Mac can deal with a baby. Not just her, but in general. I’m so tired from taking care of her for just one day.” So Molly got kind of carried away ranting off, but she really hadn’t talked to him all day, most of all she missed him.
----- molly wasn’t expecting him to say much about that, but she was wrong. “That’s good. And it was nice of you to let Jared and Mac have an evening off, too. I really don’t know what your sister was thinking dumping her kid off on them right now.” She didn’t believe what he had just said. Jocelyn didn’t dump her kid of on them. She bit her lip hard not to say anything she would later regret saying. “You don’t think Jocelyn should’ve left? Or left Ava with them?” Molly questioned as she gently got up off of the sofa as Ava’s eyelids slowly opened, but then closed. She walked her into the room where she was sleeping and slowly, but gently layed her down. While doing all of this keeping the phone to her ear as she listened to Tyler speak, he didn’t to understand why Joce left. “She could’ve hurt Ava… I think leaving is a lot better than harming your own child and not even realizing it.” She walking back into her own room closer to ear if Ava would cry waking up.
----- sitting down on her bed, holding the phone up to her ear, she listened to what he had to say. This wasn’t Jocelyn’s fault, she knew her sister would much rather be back here, not missing out on Ava’s life as the days just fly by. “Then again maybe she wouldn’t have had to ‘dump’ her kid off on them if the father wasn’t so fucked up.” So maybe that wasn’t the best thing in the world to say, but Molly was pissed of and voiced her opinion. If Kade wasn’t being a dumbass about all of the shit that has happened to him maybe he’d be with Shaye, and taking care of his kids. Like he should be doing right now.

-----Anyone that knew Tyler would be able to tell you that he was extremely opinionated. He didn’t watch what he said, and rarely tried to spare anyone. It wasn’t that he was an ass about it, or intentionally mean. Ty was kind, and he cared. It was just that he had a big mouth, and he talked almost constantly when he was in the company of someone else. He just said shit and didn’t really care who was listening, or who might disagree. If they didn’t like what he had to say, that was their problem. But, Tyler should have known not to press such an issue with Molly. She would take Jocelyn’s side on this one no matter what anyone said, and Ty couldn’t say that she was wrong. Tyler was just one of Kade’s best friends, so of course he was going to look at things from the opposing side and have views on it that Molly wasn’t going to necessarily like, seeing as she was not really a Kade fan after what he had done to her sister. “You don’t think Jocelyn should’ve left? Or left her with them?” ”I think she made a good choice in leaving Ava with Jared and Mackenzie. They’ll take care of her, but think about it. Jared just got out of a coma, and they’re just getting their marriage back together after dealing with his brother dying. Having a baby on top of all of that can’t be easy.” Tyler knew that there was no way that Jared and Mac would not have looked after Ava while Jocelyn was away. Mackenzie loved babies, and Jared was still mostly on their mentality level. It was a good set up, but it was a lot to put on their plates after they had already had so much.
-----Now for the other part… ”And no, I don’t think Joce should have left. I don’t understand why she even did.” Post-whatever depression. Yeah, Ty knew what that was and what it could do, but Jocelyn could have stayed here. She didn’t have to go running to freaking Texas and leave her child completely for four months. “She could’ve hurt Ava…. I think leaving is a lot better than harming your own child and not even realizing it.” Well, when she put it like that it kind of made sense. Ty had to give her that much, but still. Cooper sat up, and Tyler reached out to stroke the dog’s soft coat without even thinking about it. ”Okay, that’s true. But she didn’t have to leave completely. I don’t know, Molly. I mean, I get that it was all a lot to deal with all at once, but you don’t see the rest of us running away from it.” Everyone else was sticking around and putting their pieces of their lives back together after having it all shatter and fall down around them. Anna was learning to live without Hunter and trying to take care of the child growing inside of her. Jared and Mackenzie were putting the pieces of their marriage back together. Jacen, Kade, and Jared were all dealing with the mine disaster that was still with them every single day. It was a lot for everyone, but Joce was the one that had left.
-----Maybe that wasn’t really fair, but that was how it seemed. Surely Molly could see that. “Then again maybe should wouldn’t have had to ‘dump’ her kid off on them if the father wasn’t so fucked up.” Tyler frowned at that. He could hear in Molly’s voice that she was pissed off, and maybe she had a right to be. But, he was just telling her how he felt about it all. He didn’t see that as a reason to get so pissed off, but then he guessed she was stating her opinion as well. The bad part was that unlike how it usually went between them, they were agreeing on these particular issues. ”She could have trusted Kade with Ava. He wouldn’t have fucked up with her. And really, I don’t blame him for being a little fucked up, Molly. If both of my parents and my brother died, and if I had been in the mine, I imagine I wouldn’t be quite right, either.”

molly elisabeth hart. -------------------------------------------
----- molly Hart wasn’t one that really voiced her opinion. She was soft spoken, or so people thought of her that way. When she knew you, it was a whole different story; she was very outgoing, and said whatever she wanted too. However she used her words carefully, something she knew Tyler didn’t do. He would just bluntly say whatever she was thinking. Molly didn’t care normally, because she knew him all of her life. Was used to it, but this time it was different. He was talking about her sister which hit her a little harder than anything else. “I think she made a good choice in leaving Ava with Jared and Mackenzie. They’ll take care of her, but think about it. Jared just got out of a coma, and they’re just getting their marriage back together after dealing with his brother dying. Having a baby on top of all of that can’t be easy.” Sure maybe he had a point there, “I’m sure it’s not. If they couldn’t do it they should’ve told Joce. She didn’t make them take care of Ava…” Molly said lightly into the phone. No matter what, she didn’t think that the two of them would ever agree on this no matter how much they talked about it.
----- this was getting frustrating, “And no, I don’t think Joce should have left. I don’t understand why she even did.” Molly rolled her eyes thank god this was over the phone where he couldn’t see her. She had explained to him what was up with Joce, that she could harm Ava even. “Okay, that’s true. But she didn’t have to leave completely. I don’t know, Molly. I mean, I get that it was all a lot to deal with all at once, but you don’t see the rest of us running away from it.” Well at least he was seeing half of it. “It’s different for everyone… people handle shit differently. Like, Anna, Kade, Jacen, Mac, and Jared. It’s different for all of them with what happened. Jocelyn’s not running away, she’s getting help. Then she’ll be back…” Molly siged as she looked around her room laying back on to her bed. “She didn’t want to leave even. Colby and I talked her into it.” Molly told him gently. Both Colby and Molly thought it would be good for her to get away. No they didn’t force her to leave it was still her choice in the end, but they did play a big part in the whole thing.
----- yes, she had brought up Kade. Maybe it was a low blow to do that, but that’s how Molly felt about the whole thing. Ty could say whatever he wanted to, then so could she. Molly wasn’t the type to get pissed off. She had never been with Ty, only when she was involved with drugs. Other than that, they had never really been in any kind of fight. ”She could have trusted Kade with Ava. He wouldn’t have fucked up with her. And really, I don’t blame him for being a little fucked up, Molly. If both of my parents and my brother died, and if I had been in the mine, I imagine I wouldn’t be quite right, either.” She really couldn’t believe he had said that. “Are you kidding me? Hell Shaye doesn’t even trust him with Evan and he’s what? Three, two years old? You don’t know if he would’ve fucked up or not. With the way he is right now, I think he would’ve.” Molly told him listening to Ty say that he doesn’t blame him for being a little fucked up was stupid. “That’s not an excuse. There’s a difference see Kade can help it. Jocelyn can’t.” This was getting them no where.

-----He had called with the intention of just talking. Talking so that he wouldn’t be so incredibly bored while he waited for his friend to show up. Molly was usually a very good distraction for Tyler, whether they were just talking or doing something more. No matter what, she could entertain him and bring a smile to his lips. Right now, though, they were not smiling. At least, he wasn’t, Ty very much doubted that Molly was. “I’m sure it’s not. If they couldn’t do it they should’ve told Joce. She didn’t make them take care of Ava…” No, Ty didn’t see Jocelyn just dumping her daughter off on her best friend and leaving them with no other choice. He also didn’t imagine her threatening them, or guilt tripping them into taking care of Ava, either. That wasn’t how Jocelyn was, even if there was something wrong with her now that she had to go away to get help for. Tyler didn’t say anything. In his head, he knew that no matter what, Mackenzie would have done what she could for Jocelyn even if it was too much to take on. And Jared wouldn’t have said no because there would have been no point in telling Mac that she wasn’t doing it. He also wouldn’t have said no because he would want to help Jocelyn, and there was the fact that Ava was his niece. Taking care of her was, in a way, taking care of his brother.
-----Tyler sighed silently as Molly explained even more. About people handling things differently. That was absolutely true. Tyler knew that. Some people could take the pressure, and could rebuild themselves after something had torn them apart. Others got lost along the way, and needed help to get back to that good place again. Jocelyn coming back to Grace did at least make things a little better, and helped to settle Ty’s mind a bit. At least it wasn’t like another Samantha Rose, signing her child away and then leaving without having any intention of coming back. Sam had come back, but it wasn’t like she had planned on it. Ty wasn’t even sure what had changed her mind about it, but it was what it was. “She didn’t want to leave even. Colby and I talked her into it.” Oh. Again, Ty was learning to bite his tongue. He didn’t know Colby all that well, but knew that he was Molly and Jocelyn’s half brother. He didn’t know how to feel about them pushing Joce to do something like that, but then he knew that they wouldn’t have done it if they didn’t genuinely feel that she needed to do it. So there was some kind of method to the madness, at least.
-----But, there were some things that Ty had not yet learned to bite his tongue about. He could hardly believe that he was holding back at all, him being him, but this was Molly. He had to try for her, but she kept digging at this one. “Are you kidding me? Hell Shaye doesn’t even trust him with Evan and he’s what? Three, two years old? You don’t know if he would have fucked up or not. With the way he is right now, I think he would have.” ”You’re wrong,” he told her simply. Ty probably sounded like he was some pathetic, mindless little boy taking up for Kade like he was some kind of hero, but Tyler knew better. Kade was not a prime example of anything. He was not to be worshiped, and his actions weren’t to repeated. Kade made mistakes, and he fucked up more often than not, but that didn’t mean that that was all he could do. Ty knew his friend, and he knew Kade could step up. “That’s not an excuse. There’s a difference see Kade can help it. Jocelyn can’t.” ”You really think so? What happened to all that shit before about people handling things differently? How about you go through what Kade and his family has gone through this summer alone, and see how much you can help it.” Ty was extremely close to the Trents, and he had seen how much everything had broken them. Maybe others didn’t realize. Tyler heard the back door slam shut then, and knew that Kade had come back from his run. He stood from the chair, causing Cooper to move. ”Fuck, you know what? I have to go. Think what you want to think, and I’ll do the same.” He ended the call then, so frustrated and aggravated that he pulled Kade’s front door open with more force than was necessary, and let it slam shut behind him. Shit, what in the hell had just happened?
