-----In a lot of ways, Grace never changed, and the people that lived there seemed to stay the same. That was just the way it went in a town like that, people living simply and happy with it. It was the same for Jared Trent. Nothing ever really seemed to change that much, but when he looked back even just a year into the past, everything was different. Looking back five years from today, things were drastically different from how they were today. Then, it seemed that the whole town had been sucked into a tragic downward spiral that it wasn’t ever going to be able to pull up from. Everything had been going wrong, from Hunter dying from cancer, to the mine explosion, to, well…just everything. Those times had been bleak, and Jared could remember looking around and thinking that no one was going to make it out alive. He himself had faltered, and it just hadn’t seemed possible for things to be right again. But, then something had clicked and the clouds that had seemed to hover over all of them and parted. Life got easier; the tangled webs they had woven and basically hung themselves from started working themselves out. Pieces fell into place, and people moved on.
-----Jared and Mackenzie had gotten back on track, their love for one another renewed. They had started living together in their house again, and had soon been rewarded with their miracle baby. The original issue between them had been the loss of their first child, as Mac had miscarried. They had been told she wouldn’t be able to have children, and when she had become pregnant again, Jared could remember both of them seeming to brace themselves for what they thought would be another miscarriage. He remembered thinking that maybe just aborting the child would be easier; he had been that desperate to not let the same thing tear them apart twice. But, as it would turn out, Mac didn’t miscarry. She had had to be extremely careful about what she did, and it had seemed as thought both of them had held their breath all throughout those nine months. Wes Michael Trent had been born a healthy baby boy, and Jared and Mac’s lives had changed forever at that point. They were parents, and it took them awhile to adjust but they loved that kid more than anything. Five years later, that still held true.
-----He had been at home all day, bored. Mac had gone to spend the day with Jocelyn, and Jared had the day off from the mines. Wes was at school, and Jared was having a hard time trying to figure out what in the hell he was supposed to do in that big house all by himself. He ended up rotting his brain out on talk shows and court TV, and was in the school parking lot when the bell rang to pick up his son. Plus his nieces and nephews, because he was the cool uncle that day. That meant he had Wes, Evan, Michael, and Ava. Kaylan was with Shaye, or Jared would have went and got her, too. Jared had always been a kid kind of person, easily relating with them and able to put himself on their level. He loved all of these kids, even when they gave him hell. Kind of like they did that evening. It was almost to be expected, though, seeing as how they were all Trents. Jared was finally getting a taste of what his parents went through, and grinned when he thought about it. Except right at that moment, when he was frowning at his nephew. Evan was the spitting image of Kade, his father up and down, but there were moments when Evan could be meaner than Jared ever remembered Kade being. Right now was one of those moments, as he shoved his half-sister down in order to get to Michael, who apparently had a toy that Evan thought he was only allowed to have. Michael and Ava just watched, obviously used to this kind of abuse. ”Evan, give that back to Mike and apologize to Ava.” Jared had never been good with being the authority figure, and he hated being the bad guy. Evan gave Jared this God awful look, threw the toy down, and stomped off to the other room. Shit, Kade and Shaye had their hands full with that one.
-----Tyler came over not long after that to collect Michael, and then Kade came about an hour later, covered in coal dust after a day shift. When Dad showed up, Evan was on his best behavior, and even held Ava’s hand as they walked down the walk and to Kade’s truck. It would have been cute if both Jared and Kade didn’t know it was just for show. After they were gone, Jared and Wes settled in for a round of video games, waiting for Mommy to come home. The damn kid was good, though, and Jared really had to play unlike when he played against Mykayla or Syren, who could hardly work the controls to begin with.

----------------------------------------------------------
-----some say time heals all wounds and for the most part that is true. Given everything thing that had happen in the past five, six years things were looking up. The life of Mackenzie Trent was quite grand and wonderful at the moment. As though there was nothing that could cause chaos between her family, and friends. However there was Mac was keeping something from her husband. Something that should have been out in the open a long time ago, considering there were supposed to be no secrets between the two. Mackenzie Trent had slept with her best friend Jacen Ward which now turns out to be the half brother of the Trent’s which really means she screwed her half brother in law. Sounds a little off, but it happened a long time ago before anyone knew of this. This secret had been eating away at Mac ever since Jacen had asked of her not to tell Jared. He did not want Brit to know about what they had done, which wasn’t right. Both Brit and Jared had a right to know. Mackenzie knew that this could derail all of the things Jared and her had worked out.
-----shocked to find out five years ago that she was pregnant, with having lost a child before that she was bracing herself for the worst outcome. Safe to say she was scared, she did not think she could handle loosing another child. They followed all of the doctors orders did as he said, plus she had never seen Jared so concerned for her especially when it was getting closer to the due date. Would not let her move even a finger, it was sweet and even sometimes she missed that. The baby was born finding out that it was a boy; Mac didn’t want to know the sex of the baby in case the baby would not have made it. As for Jared she wasn’t sure if he knew or not. He was always throwing boy names out even his own name which she always made a face at and joked saying ‘what kind of name is that?’ Wes Michael Trent was his name. Wes was just a name the both liked and Michael was Hunter’s middle name. It all fit perfectly together. Mac had always dreamed of being a mother, and having her own children with the name she loved. Now it was happening, even though Jared wanted many children they seemed both content with one. Wes would have many other cousins to keep him occupied.
-----mackenzie had taken the night off from work and not having to work in the afternoon was a plus. Jared had also taken the day off, however she had made plans with Jocelyn to go out roam the small town. Go shopping and whatever else the two decided to it. The day was fun and eventful, and just what she needed. The time rolled around to where Wes and the other kids would be picked up from school by Jared. It was also good for Wes and Jared to spend time together. Mackenzie had confided in Jocelyn about what had happened between Jacen and herself along with what should she due. Joce was a firm believer that she should tell Jared the truth. It had been five years since that happened anyways. The two parted, each returning back to their homes, Mac opened the front door walking through the front door and closing it behind her. There sat Jared and Wes playing video games nothing out of the ordinary. Walking closer to the couch, she watched what was happening on the screen that their eyes seemed to be glued to. “My son beating you again?” Mac said with a smile on her face knowing that Jared actually put effort into playing again Wes who again was only five. Of course she was only joking with Jared. The living room and kitchen were connected and open so you could be in one room and see what was going on in the other. Walking into the kitchen she looked through the cabinets and refrigerator for something to make for dinner figuring that they hadn’t ate yet. Which she was right they hadn’t Mac prepared the food while they played their video games. They all sat down around the kitchen table and enjoyed a wonderful dinner this time Wes did not fuss about eating all the food on his plate. After that Mac cleaned up the dishes while Jared was getting Wes cleaned up for him to go to bed soon. At least she hoped that was what he was doing.
-----around eight they both tucked Wes into bed for the night, telling him that they loved him and good night. The thing about the boy was that he was a pretty good sleeper there were only few times she could remember him ever walking up in the middle of the night. Which was good for tonight, she wanted to talk to Jared about the whole Jacen mess. The two went down stairs and sat down on the couch there was a random channel on Tv that neither of them were interested in. “I need to talk to you, babe.”
n o t e s: kinda eh. don't have to do along one and go where ever with it. either to his reaction to when she tells him or gets interrupted by wes. whatever :] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

-----It was insane how well a five-year-old could play a video game. Jared had been like that too, though, he guessed. He was the “techie” out of the Trent family, the one that had always been fooling around with wires and computers and just anything electronic. People were often nervous when he started messing with things like that, and while he had managed to shock himself a few times and start a couple of small fires, he was pretty knowledgeable in the area. Not to mention that he had the high scores on all the arcade games the small town had to offer, and on several of his friends’ game systems. He was just really good when it came to video games, and he was glad that it was something his son had gotten from him so that they could share in that. Unfortunately, Wes was also a sneaky little kid and found out that Daddy was sometimes gullible and easy to distract. Wes used that to his advantage, getting Jared to wreck in Mario Cart, or stop paying attention just long enough for the child to pull a fast one and take Jared down. Today, though, Jared was on his game, and he was giving his son a run for his money. In a way, it was almost sad, picking fights with a five-year-old.
-----They had probably been playing for about twenty minutes straight when Jared heard the front door open and close, but didn’t dare to take his eyes from the television screen. He and Wes were up on a higher, more difficult level of the game, and he would be damned if he lost it now. “My son beating you again?” Of course Wes was her son when he was good, or was putting his father to shame on a video game. ”No. We’re tied.” “I just killed that guy,” Wes chimed in, turning to look up at Mackenzie for a quick second. “Hi, Mama.” ”Damn.” Killing that guy meant Wes had more points. Now Jared was going to have to go and do something really difficult and amazing if he were going to get ahead again. Or Wes was going to have to screw up, but really, the odds of that weren’t all that great. Jared heard Mac walk away from the couch and toward the kitchen, and he momentarily felt bad for not going to help her, or even just talk to her. Then, Wes managed to score more points, and that moment of feeling bad was gone as he frantically worked the controller in hopes of at least catching up.
-----It seemed not to take long at all before Mac was threatening the two of them to pause the game and come to eat dinner. Jared convinced Wes to turn it off, saying that they could have a rematch and start from scratch. Wes agreed, and Jared grinned when his son gave him that look that clearly said he knew Daddy was just trying to get out of completely losing. They ate their dinner, Jared talking to Mac about her day and both parents proud when their son actually ate all the food on his plate. It was a simple setting, but this was what Jared cherished the most: moments like these. After dinner was over, they all cleared the table and then Jared and Wes headed upstairs while Mac cleaned the dishes. Jared sometimes wished he could have that job, because he and Wes sometimes made one hell of an ordeal trying to get him cleaned up and ready for bed. It wasn’t that they fought, or that Wes was difficult, but they were both just so random and liked to play rather than do what they were supposed to be doing. Half of the time, Jared looked like he got more wet than Wes did, and it would take them thinking that they heard Mac coming up the stairs for them to straighten up. Jared often joked that she was raising two boys instead of one, and most people nodded their heads in agreement. That night went smoothly, though, with no major mishaps, and Wes was in bed when he was supposed to be.
-----After tucking in their son, Jared and Mac went downstairs and reclaimed the couch. Jared turned on the TV, flipping through the channels and stopping on some random one that looked good. He had his arm around Mackenzie, holding her close as he tossed the remote aside and looked at her rather than the show that was on. He had been about to say something, but she beat him to it. “I need to talk to you, babe.” The small smile he had been wearing on his lips faded slightly. ”About what?” He still smiled, right up until he saw the expression on her face. ”I’m not going to like it, am I?” He took a breath. ”M’kay. Just do it quick like a band aid.” Jared had this kind of sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, but he always expected the worse when these kind of moments rolled around. Usually he got worked up over nothing, but as he listened to Mackenzie speak, he realized that this time he had good reason. He felt his jaw drop slightly. Mackenzie and Jacen? ”You’re kidding…” said more to himself than to her, his eyebrows narrowing in that classic way he’d seen his older brother’s do several times. ”Five years ago, and you tell me now? Why not then when we came clean of all of that shit that happened?” While anger might have shown in his eyes, hurt was pouring through him on the inside.

----------------------------------------------------------
-----mackenzie Trent never had a big family; mostly it was her mother and her. Once in a while her cousin Sydney would stop in town from time to time. Sydney was basically her sister; despite their age difference and how far away Sydney lived the two were close. Almost a year or so ago, Sydney had come into town just like every other time. However that was when she met Colby, Mackenzie knew about this, she knew something was up between the two and she was surprised when Sydney had actually left. Now she was back in Grace, for a visit and brought something with her, a baby girl. The father of the child surprised her even further, it was Colby Paxton. The brother of Jocelyn and Molly Hart, this was crazy. Mackenzie talked to Jared about letting Sydney and the baby stay with them. He agreed but had to be persuaded some. They had arrived a few days ago, and obviously Syd, and Kacee were out of the house now. Mackenzie thought that they might’ve gone over to Colby’s or just roaming around the small town. Either way, it gave them time alone, with just the three of them to sit down and have dinner. As they had done when Sydney was not staying with them.
-----once their son was in bed, they were both sitting on the couch, when Mackenzie decided that now was just as good as any other time to tell Jared about sleeping with Jacen. There was five years of guilt built up and she wasn’t sure how Jared would take it. After everything that happened with Viv, this was going to hurt. “About what?” He really didn’t want to know. Mac’s facial expression changed,”I’m not going to like it, am I?” Mac shook her head no, "M’kay. Just do it quick like a band aid.” Mackenzie wasn’t sure how to go about saying this, but figured anything was better than just the waiting. “Back when I found out about Viv and you, I was upset so I went over to Jacen’s just to talk to him but then…we slept together.” Mackenzie was ashamed, she felt horrible about this, but she had to tell him. Jared was her husband and she couldn’t keep this from him any longer. ”You’re kidding…” Mackenzie knew not to answer that. She watched as his eyebrows narrowed that look she hated to see no matter what was causing it. ”Five years ago, and you tell me now? Why not then when we came clean of all of that shit that happened?” There was no way, that Mac could’ve told him then, hell she shouldn’t have even told him now. However, she had.
-----now Mackenzie didn’t want to tell Jared that Jacen had told her not to tell. It wasn’t has if Jacen had forced her not to tell him, she had made that decision on her own. Considering she could’ve told him earlier, “I don’t know, Jared. Everything was going really well and just bring that up everything would just go back to how it used to be. I didn’t want that. It was a mistake, that shouldn’t have happened, I’m sorry.” That was the truth, she finally had Jared back and now, she could lose him, once again.
n o t e s: this sucks. i'm sorry. :[ next one will be better. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
