-----on the very outside most would see that Jaxs Taylor was an outright asshole. Never cared much to what those people thought anyhow. They were not the ones that matter to him. In his short thirty-two years of life he’s managed to break a few harts, and anger his younger sister. Watched his mother slowly pass away, and get himself into gang activity. Safe to say he was a little lost in what he was doing with his life. Yet, he never pictured the events that had already happened, or what he was going through. He pictured a very different, simple life, one that involved marriage and a few kids. The life he wanted with Syren, however many years ago. Jaxs has his fair share of screw ups, and with that girl, was probably the biggest one of all. No doubt that he still loved her, just as he had back when they were younger. She had moved on with someone else, engaged now or something. He didn’t get all into the details of things that still hurt like that did. However, that shouldn’t even affect him, considering he had Jocelyn right?
-----wrong. Never could there just for once be a happy ending for the guy. The two were going good, nothing official had ever come up, but the two knew they were in a type of relationship that was more than just friendship. They had a history, but that was at a different time in the past. Now, was something different, new. Jocelyn had a six year old daughter that was fathered by Kade Trent. He had no issue with the guy, but it was whatever. Didn’t matter to him, he still treated that little girl like it was his own. Watched himself, not to overstep anything that might seem as though he’s replacing her real father. At first, it was a little weird, but as time went on, it just seemed natural. Jaxs loved that little girl, she had him wrapped around his finger, and out of all the girls he was close too. She was his number one. It had been a few weekends since Jaxs had seen Ava or Jocelyn for that matter. It was for the best. At least that’s what he told himself over and over again. Just never felt that way.
-----rolling out of bed, he scratched his bare chest, trying to fully wake up, and remember where the hell he was. It was his small little shack of a house, not much to it, and not very clean. He didn’t care. At least there wasn’t some random chick next to him this morning, those are always awkward. He dragged his feet into the kitchen pulling open the door to the fridge looking around for something to drink, grabbing a carton of open orange juice and chugged some down. Putting it back he looked around trying to figure out what to do, or to start off what time it was. Lying up against the wall was a pink, purple, backpack; Jocelyn had reminded him last night that it was still at his place. So he through on some jeans and a white shirt taking the backpack with him and headed over to her place. Knocking on the door Jocelyn answered looking half pissed, yet have surprised, to see him standing there. He wasn’t a looker by any means and he knew this. However, when Ava got a glance of him standing there she came flying out the door and into his arms. Jaxs picked her up and into a hug. “At least someone’s happy to see me.” He said with a slight smile, joking with Jocelyn. “I thought you might want this back, seeing as I would have no use for it.” He said to Ava setting her back down on her own two feet, handing the bag over to her. “Guess I’ll see you around kid.” Kissing the small girl on the head, just about ready to leave.

----If anyone had asked Jocelyn what her life would be like when she was twenty-six years old, how it currently was would have been her last answer. So many things had changed in such a short amount of time. Life as she knew it had changed when she learned of her pregnancy back when she was twenty. And now, if she had to, she could honestly say she'd go back and do it all again. Had it not, she wouldn't have Ava and she herself wouldn't have matured the way she did. Things had happened for a reason. But that doesn't mean it came easy. Regardless of the struggles in getting to where she was, it was all worth it. It was sometimes weird to even look back and see how things had progessively changed. Year by year, things were different. She wondered if things would ever stop changing. By the look of things at present, that didn't seem likely. Sure, things were much better than they had been. But nothing good stays. At least that was how it seemed. Something good would come to Jocelyn's life, and before she could grasp it, it was gone. Sadly, she'd gotten used to it. It was to a point where she didn't give a reaction to it anymore- it happened, and she typically moved on with her life.
----However, that wasn't the case for Ava. Ava had a hard time understanding a lot of the unusual circumstances surrounding her. Few people in Grace were single parents, few had large young families, and few even had pre-marital pregnancies. Ava knew she was different, and Jocelyn felt partly responsible for that. The young girl always asked questions regarding why she didn't live with Evan and Kaylan, why they were different than she was, why Kade was married to Shaye- of course it would all be confusing to a six year old. But Jocelyn had no secrets with her daughter. She knew why things were the way they were, and Jocelyn tried to stress the fact that none of it was her fault. Ava barely listened though. Kade not being around, and then Kiptyn leaving were the two major hits on Ava's esteem. It was hard for her to understand- she honestly believed there was something wrong with her that made other people not want her. If only she knew... none of it was ever Ava's fault. It was only Jocelyn's. Jocelyn drove those people away. And yet, she had done it again. After promising herself and Ava that she wouldn't, she had. Not only did she break her promise- but it hurt like hell, too.
----"Ava! Hurry up!" Jocelyn called up the stairwell, before turning back toward the kitchen. Not even ten seconds later, the chipper blue-eyed girl slid down the bannister. Jocelyn sighed and merely rolled her eyes, having already given up on trying to get her not to do that. With that signature big grin, she hopped off the bottom step and paced to the kitchen, sitting down in one of the wooden chairs, eating a typical lunch. "I told you not to slide down the bannister. It's going to topple over one of these days, and you're gonna crack your head open." Ava just sighed as if all-knowing and shook her head. "You worry too much!" Jocelyn slightly chuckled, knowing that it was partly true. And how bizarre it really was. It was good to see Ava smiling again, though. She'd been upset the last couple of days, since Jaxs hadn't been around... a totally different story in itself. Jaxs was the most recent man in Joce's life. Probably the best in her opinion. But, as the others, he had given up about a week ago, without so much as an explanation as to why. That part bothered her the most. It had come out of nowhere, things seemingly going good for them. Then all of a sudden, he said he couldn't be around her anymore, and walked away with shifty eyes. It had puzzled her, and honestly, had broken her heart. Again. That always seemed to happaned, eventually.
----Just as Jocelyn went to sit down, there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it!" Ava pepped up excitedly, almost ready to pounce out of her chair. "No, you won't. Finish your sandwich, kiddo." Jocelyn raised an eyebrow at the door, knowing she wasn't expecting anyone over today. There were really only two people she thought possible- Mac or Molly. But as she went to grab the handle, the face that stared back at her was kind of alarming and unexpected. And at the mere sight of him, her stomach slightly dropped. There were mixed emotions in the moment. Anger and hurt all at once, and she knew it showed on her face. Without even saying a word, she heard a wooden chair squeak on the tiling inside, and a second later Ava was in Jaxs arms. “At least someone’s happy to see me.” Jocelyn felt her eyes narrow at this, as her arms went to cross at her chest. What a dick. “I thought you might want this back, seeing as I would have no use for it.” She saw the backpack and realized why he was here. That was the only reason. Jaxs handed the bag to her, and gave Ava a kiss on the forehead. That's when she saw it. That confusion was on Ava's face again as she looked over at Jocelyn with her big blue eyes. That tugged at her heart a little... “Guess I’ll see you around kid.” Without another word, Ava silently went back into the house. "So not only do I have to deal with awkard visits from Kade, but now you?" Those were the first and only words she'd spoken to Jaxs in days. And they were far the the actual words she wanted to tell him. "Nice to see you too..." She murmered, hurt by the fact that none of this seemed to affect him at all.
